Ladies and Gentlemen I trust you had a wonderful holiday season, happy Christmas, merry New Year or whatever passes for December in your neck of the woods and as a post-new year present I have added a new podcast.
It is, of course 'The Night Before The Christmas Before I Was Married' which will either make you think Thank God my Christmas wasn't as bad as that or alternatively Thank God someone out there had as bad a Christmas as I did.
Subscribe.
Enjoy.
Welcome to 2008.

Most people I think are heading full tilt towards Christmas holiday time with thoughts turning to goodwill to all men and... err... presents. It has become something of a semi-tradition for me to post a short Christmas story at this corresponding time of year and this year is to be no exception so without further ado I present:
The Night Before The Christmas Before I Was Married
As anyone worth their salt knows, becoming accidentally engaged to your ex can be problematic. Especially if your fiancee is coming home for Christmas and this is a tale of such an event.
Warning - contains extreme Santa-punching.
Merry Christmas!

Some sad news, today I heard that Chrissie Glazebrook died at the end of last week. Chrissie was a tutor of mine when I attended the Creative Writing Masters Degree at Northumbria University and was a great author, having written two black comedy novels 'The Madolescents' and 'Blue Spark Sisters' before - as she put it - the evil demon cancer sank its teeth into her.
Chrissie was a wonderfully random person with a wide-eyed fascination for the insanity of the world at large and a great ability to find humour in it. Even after she was diagnosed she started a blog entitled 'Shuffling Off' which was as funny and candid as she always was.
Or read the obituary on The Guardian website.

Skive Magazine - the short story quarterly have published my short short story 'Perfect Gluttony' in their December edition.
It is available to download as a PDF and also to buy in book-form from the Skive Magazine website.
So what are you waiting for?

Once again I am happy to announce that another story of mine has been accepted for publication. This time it's the turn of 'Like They Used to Do In The Movies' - a tumultuous tale of smoking meerkats and love in a zoo (not mucky love though - people love...). It is being published online by Monkeybicycle, an excellent site which you should check out even before my story appears.
I also thought it might be worth reminding everyone that 'So What Exactly is Flash Fiction?' is a brief explanation of short stories, flash fiction and the like (as the title suggests). It has been up for a few weeks and is definitely worth a look.
