I've been tinkering with the website so please let me know if anything is bust...
For reasons both altruistic and nefarious I decided to extend the way the site works. From this day forth you will notice that labels will appear under most news updates on the site as well as in the left hand column of all of my writings.
The reason for this is pretty strightforward and that's to help you navigate the site with greater ease. Want more Flash Fiction? Click on the Flash Fiction label and all writing with that label will be layed out for your viewing pleasure. Want more podcasts? Click on the Podcast label and... oh you get the idea.
I've done some basic labelling to get the ball rolling but will try to make it a bit more relevant as we go. Right then, I'm off.

Today I received an email from the North East Digital Awards to let me know that my short story podcast has indeed been shortlisted in the Best Podcasting Campaign category.
Phew.
As I mentioned in my last update that was just the first part of the process, the second part being that a panel of judges will weigh up the individual merits of each in the shortlist and then choose a winner. After the landslide voting I have high hopes that your efforts will carry me through but until 15th May at the awards ceremony I will have to wait.
And so will you.
At least you'll only have to wait for the results - everything else is business as usual so why not click on the link below and download the last podcast. And if you don't give a monkey's about the podcast there's plenty of flash fiction to read...

Here's a new exclusive one for you all - I have recorded a reading of 'We Are The Voices In Your Head', a short-short story so new that it hasn't been seen in print or online yet. I know I'm good to you but you deserve it.
And speaking of podcasts you might have noticed me banging on about the North East Digital Awards and a certain issue of best podcasting campaign? Well voting has closed so thank you to everyone who took the time to click and vote for yours truly, the response was phenomenal and I hope it wouldn't be too arrogant to say that we crushed the opposition under our heel and ground them into a pulp on the pavement. It is too arrogant? Ah well, sorry.
Having said that voting is only the first stage - now a shortlist will be announced and a judging panel will make the final decision. So cross our fingers and wait... More info as it happens.

A wonderful new short short story for you this Easter weekend.
'Like They Used To Do In The Movies' is a tale of romance between zookeepers... when the wily meerkats start baiting them, there's more than just cigarette smoke in the air.
