For those of you who were expecting the usual flippant and frivolous Maxwell story I have a bit of a departure for you with something of a serious one this month which hopefully will entertain just as much as the usual fare.

In a break with tradition I have decided to do the podcast the same as this month's short story 'Doctor Starkey's Monsters'. Partly out of laziness but mostly because it ties in pretty nicely with Halloween.
Ooh and those wonderful people at Medium Magazine have also gone and published it in their latest edition which, I think you'll agree, is simply wonderful.
So, off you go - subscribe to the podcast and don't forget that it's all just pretend, no actual zombies were made in the creation of this story.

With Halloween fast approaching I present you a Gothic story of mad scientists playing with forces beyond their understanding. And call centres. And zombies. In call centres.

I came this close to doing 'Along Came A Chicken' from 'Dial M For Monkey' for the podcast but I think I may need to somehow work out how to sound like a hundred chickens for that one... maybe next month... instead this month's podcast has me testing my voice-acting chops to the full as I embrace the faux-Germanic tones of Madame Xena in 'Goot Eefeneeng'.
God, I'm such a luvvey.

After a night on the sauce who knows where you'll wake up - or who'll be lying next to you. There's drunkeness and dead bodies in the latest flash fiction for the 'lounge.
And not a Beatles lyric in sight. No sir. Not in this short story.

Everyone needs a name whether you are real or fiction and this tool will generate random character names for you. So whether you are writing screenplays, novels, short stories or anything else for that matter this should help.
Especially when you consider it has:
- over 4000 women's names
- over 2000 men's names
- and nearly 10000 surnames
my army of webmonkeys worked tirelessly on this one so I have decreed they can take ten minutes off to go and have a ciggy.

An interview I did by email yesterday has been posted on Adrian Graham's blog so go and check it out.
Plenty of blah blah about short stories, websites, flash fiction and other writing stuff.
Go on - it'll put a smile on your face and a twinkle in your eye.
